THE LAGGAN BAY STORY

The Inspiration For Our Distillery
Less than a mile from Islay’s longest beach, our distillery takes its name from the beautiful Laggan Bay, the sweeping shoreline that runs from Laggan Point in the north to Kintra on the Oa Peninsula in the south.
Our Laggan Bay logo is a representation of the values of the brand, sustainability, community and tradition, and incorporates the iconic blue which is so familiar throughout the island. If you look closely at it you can also see that the infinity loop includes Bottlenose dolphins, as a tribute to the wildlife of the bay.
Sustainability Sits At The Heart Of Our Journey
Our purpose‑built wetlands not only manage our liquid waste in a natural, low‑impact way. They also provide a sanctuary for the wildlife that shares our landscape. This approach builds on the innovation of our sister distillery, Glengoyne, the first Scotch whisky distillery to introduce wetland waste management, recognised with a Green Tourism Gold Award in 2023.
We are also working with the Islay Energy Trust and Scottish Power to explore renewable energy options and has committed to green flame energy to reduce our carbon emissions.
Additionally our distillery uses horizontal condensers that capture heat from the distillation process and reuse it to warm water for other stages of production. This smart system cuts energy use and reduces our environmental impact.
